Valentines Week Update 2021

As we approach Valentines Day, the day in which we celebrate and share love and affection, we thought you might like an update on how Thirsk Lodge Barns is coming along!

We have many couples booked in to get married with us from August onwards, and we cannot wait for the venue to be filled with love, laughter and happy guests! If you are looking for a relaxed, exclusive wedding venue - a blank canvas to make your own - then please get in touch for more information!

THE MAIN BARN

Describe the vision: this majestic old, red brick barn will be used for ceremonies during the day and then transform into the dance floor for the evening reception. It has stunning views of our wild meadow, a wall of fairy lights, iron rings for incredible floral displays and a mezzanine (for your DJ to play on perhaps?!) - it’s the main room at Thirsk Lodge Barns.

Where we are now: the underfloor heating and final screed is down, the team have almost finished repointing the walls, the mezzanine has been opened up and is looking fantastic, the roof and walls have been insulated and the oak beams are all in place. Next… the windows and doors go in!

Favourite features so far: the huge piece of reclaimed wood above the double doors where you walk down the aisle from, plus all the gorgeous crosses that we have kept in the walls - they acted as ventilation when the barn was used to house animals. Oh, and all the exposed oak beams!

THE BAR

Describe the vision: this stunning room has a whole wall of bifold doors that opens out on the Courtyard. With exposed beams and pillars, but a modern copper topped bar – the space still captures the old features of the Barns, but with a more modern twist!

Where we are now: the underfloor heating and final screed is down, all the electrics are in place, the bar area has been mapped out and a new store has been constructed behind this. The beams and pillars are all in place and the roof is about to be insulated.

Favourite features so far: the view out to the courtyard, and the incredible light that streams in through the skylights!

THE COURTYARD

Describe the vision: just off from the bar, our gorgeous paved courtyard houses an enormous olive tree centre piece, and it is the perfect place for photos, drinks or a breath of fresh air. We will offer large outdoor games and fire pits (bring sparklers and marshmallows!), and there is an open stable area with heaters for some outdoor seating. We also have the option of setting up a pop-up bar out here too.

Where we are now: the paving is almost complete and the olive tree is being put into place before the weekend! The stables have all been opened up and we have a local craftsman (who mainly uses reclaimed pallets) coming on site next week to measure up for the seating in the stables. We met with the most amazing landscape designer and gardener (Andrew, Vertigrow) who has mapped out all the landscaping we are having in the courtyard to make it fresh, green and ideal for you and your guests.

Favourite features so far: the stables - check out our Instagram for photos of the paving going in here recently.

THE WHEELHOUSE

Describe the vision: this is a ‘snug’ room for kids to watch TV or for your guests to pop their feet up. Set just off the Main Barn, it’s a great escape for those guests that want a breather from the dancing!

Where we are now: the underfloor heating and final screed is down and all the electrics are in place. The windows and bifold door has been measured up and we are waiting for them to go in next.

Favourite features so far: the view! Without a doubt - this room has the most amazing panoramic view of our meadow!

THE DINING ROOM:

Describe the vision: with open trusses, a large skylight and a beautiful oak floor, our stunning Dining Room can seat up to 140 guests. There is a separate bar in here and views overlooking the fields.

Where we are now: the underfloor heating and final screed is down and all the electrics are in place. The skylight is in and most of the windows, and the ceiling has been insulated and boarded, ready for painting!

Favourite features so far: the skylight!!

VIP ROOM

Describe the vision: this is a private room for the bridal couple; somewhere to keep a change of shoes, bag of make up or to take 5 from the busy day!

Where we are now: the underfloor heating and final screed is down and all the electrics are in place. The stud wall is up to make the private bathroom and we are working on the interior ideas.

Favourite features so far: the dramatic entrance into the Main Barn from here - ideal to walk down the aisle from!

Happy Valentines Day to all of our lovely readers - we hope you all enjoy the updates, keep an eye on Instagram for more regular photos of the development!
