Do you have a brochure?
We are trying to remain a paperless venue; so you should be able to find all of the information you need online. However, please get in touch if you have any questions as we are always here to help!
How many guests can we have?
Thirsk Lodge Barns can accommodate up to 140 people during the day for your ceremony and for the meal. Further guests can then join after for your evening drinks and dancing.
Can we get married on site?
Yes! We have a civil ceremony licence - this is a non-religious legal marriage ceremony performed by a government official or functionary. In the United Kingdom, this person is typically called a registrar.
Who is the local registrar?

Can we have a church wedding?
There are lots of churches local to Thirsk Lodge Barns, so if you choose to get married in a church, you can still use the barns for your reception venue, wedding breakfast and evening party. A good website for local churches is https://www.visitthirsk.org.uk/pages/churches.php.
How much is a wedding/event at Thirsk Lodge Barns?
Our Barn Hire price differs depending on the day of the week and the month, so it is best to get in touch to ask for availability and prices. We manage the bar in house, and can provide prices for pre-ordering drinks as well. This gives you a really good idea of how much your day will cost at Thirsk Lodge Barns; enabling you to relax about your wedding/event with us and focus on all the other aspects of your big day.
Do we get exclusive use of the venue?
When you book Thirsk Lodge Barns you get exclusive use of the venue the day of your hire, and you are able to come and set up the day before as well.
What is included in the Barn Hire cost?

Can we choose our own caterers?
We have a list of recommended caterers that we would prefer you to choose from; they offer a range of styles from feast menus to fine dining. Please get in touch for our list.
Can we use our own florists/musicians/photographers etc.?
Of course! Again, we have a list of recommended local suppliers but please feel free to choose your own. Its your day so it’s important its your choice!
What time does the venue close?
The music and bar finish at midnight, and then we will give your guests plenty of time to finish their drinks and find their taxis!
Do you have an on-site Wedding/Event Planner?
With years of experience, we will help you with every step of the planning process for your day; whether it be to advise on local suppliers, show your photographer around ahead of your big day, or help liaise with your caterer.
We are also onsite to run your day for you – ensuring all your suppliers know what they are doing and when, and making sure the timings of your day flow as you will have planned.
Is there accommodation on site?
On site we will have a newly renovated Farmhouse which accommodates up to 10 guests, and also the ‘Laundry Cottage’ which is being renovated to a very high standard for the couple. So there is accommodation for 10 on site, and we would ask that you take these for the night before and the night of if you wanted to book these.
The Farmhouse and the Laundry Cottage are £650 per night in total. There is lots of further accommodation nearby including a Premier Inn in Thirsk (which I think do discounted rates on bulk bookings), B&Bs, holiday cottages and higher end hotels.
Is there a camp site available?
We do not have a camping at Thirsk Lodge Barns, however there are lots of local campsites nearby. You can search for one online at https://www.campsites.co.uk/.
Do the barns ever get too hot or too cold?
Anyone who knows North Yorkshire will know that the weather can be a little unpredictable, but we have an environmentally friendly ground-source heating system that powers underfloor heating throughout the barns - so you will never get cold at Thirsk Lodge Barns.
If you are lucky enough to have the glorious ‘Costa-del-Thirsk’ sun, then we can open all the glass doors by the bar so your guests can spill out into the courtyard during your drinks reception, and we have air conditioning throughout as well.
What happens if there is a power cut?
Don’t worry - we have a generator which will kick in should we experience a power cut. Nothing will get in the way of your partying!
What happens if my event/wedding is cancelled?
With the tragic Covid-19 pandemic, we are all more aware than ever that unpredicted events can cause unpredictable changes to your day.
