The Layout

Thirsk Lodge Barns is made up of a set of old agricultural barns - which amazingly offered the perfect layout for a venue! Let us ‘virtually’ walk you through …

On the sketch above - follow the paved area to the Entrance Hall, right in the middle of the site. Guests will enter through a set of large glass doors and there will be space for a gift table and an easel with your seating plan on at the Entrance should you wish. We can also serve guests a welcome drink from here for when they arrive.

To the left of the Entrance Hall, you walk down into the Bar; this runs the length of the Main Barn and looks out onto the courtyard. For those lucky enough to have nice weather, we will open the Bar area out into the Courtyard. You and your guests can then spill out into the sun and enjoy outdoor games such as giant Connect 4 and Jenga in the stunning, landscaped Courtyard.

Across the Courtyard from the Main Barn we will have the Stables; traditional, stables opened up to use as pop up Prosecco bars or just as covered chill out areas.

The Main Barn itself is where the ceremonies will happen. With a wall of fairy lights behind the ceremony table, and large iron chandeliers - it is dramatic and breathtaking. There is also a mezzanine area for extra guests or for musicians to play from throughout your ceremony. At the back of the Main Barn is a set of double doors for the bride or groom to walk down. Behind these double doors is a private room for the couple to use throughout the day - perfect for make up touch ups or outfit changes! (No doubt most brides will want to kick off the heels and slip on the flats at some point!)

In the evening, the Main Barn is where you dance - the ceremony chairs are swiftly moved out and the DJ moves in!

Attached the the Main Barn is the Wheelhouse. This is basically a ‘snug’ - somewhere for kids to hang out or guests who want to put their feet up for five. There will be a TV in here to either keep kids entertained, or to play a roll of photos on throughout the day for all your guests to see.

After the ceremony and the reception, guests will head back past the Entrance Hall and into the Dining Room; which has a large skylight and views overlooking the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. There is a smaller bar in here and you will have a choice of round tables or long tables for your wedding breakfast.

Dotted throughout the venue are places for those all important photos - including under our Granary where we intend to house a vintage tractor for those looking for a more quirky background!

There is obviously also toilet facilities and a cloak room for any coats or hats, plus a large commercial kitchen for your caterer to use.
